Overview
The Medical AI research area develops intelligent algorithms that apply artificial intelligence—including machine learning and deep learning—to biomedical data to support disease diagnosis, prediction, and treatment decision-making. Grounded in causal inference and predictive modeling, we analyze clinical data and develop natural language processing and imaging/multimodal AI technologies such as medical image captioning, clinical information extraction, speech recognition, and pathology image analysis. We further predict disease onset and progression through machine learning–based bio-signal analysis, early disease-detection algorithms, and in-silico modeling, and we integrate AI into medical device and bioimplant design to enhance diagnostic and therapeutic precision. Ultimately, this research area aims to lead precision medicine and data-driven healthcare innovation through trustworthy and clinically validated artificial intelligence.
